Gunmen kill PDP chieftain, wife, child in Plateau



Jos – A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, Mr. John Bare, his wife and child were, Wednesday, murdered by gunmen at Gwarim, Rim village.
Baren, who until his death, was the Chairman of the party for Sharubutu Ward in the area was said to have be ambushed by suspected Fulani herdsmen as they returned from an outing about 3.30pm.
The politician was said to have been on his way back from Riyom, where he attended a relation’s burial, when he and two members of his family met their untimely death.
Member representing Riyom Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr. Daniel Dem, confirmed the killings, which he described as sad and uncalled for.
He described the late politician as a committed party man, who worked hard to ensure victory for the party in past elections in the area.
He appealed to security agencies, especially, the Special Task Force, to do all within their power to bring the rampant killings in the area to an end and also track down Bare’s killers.
The lawmaker appealed to his people to remain vigilant and security-conscious and consoled with the bereaved community over the killings.
